Workshops For Schools & Educational Settings

From The Power of Connection and Behaviour Detectives to Shame and Its Impact, Introduction to Trauma-Responsive Leadership, and Understanding the Nervous System, each session combines reflection, discussion, and practical strategies. Participants leave with tools, frameworks, and insights they can apply immediately to foster connection, resilience, and positive outcomes in their schools and education settings.

The Power Of Connection

Duration: 2 hours

This session explores why connection is the foundation of all learning, behaviour, and wellbeing. Drawing on attachment theory, trauma-informed practice, and real-life school examples, this workshop helps staff understand how relational safety transforms classrooms, staff teams, and school culture.

Rather than asking “What’s wrong with this child?” we shift to “What has this child experienced, and what do they need from me right now?” Participants are invited to reflect on their own relational stvle and rediscover the power they already hold as safe, regulated adults.

Outcomes

Participants will:

  • Understand why connection must come before correction
  • Explore the link between attachment, safety, and behaviour
  • Recognise how adult presence, tone, and consistency shape outcomes
  • Learn practical ways to build relational safety in everyday interactions
  • Feel empowered to respond with curiosity rather than control

Behaviour Detectives

Duration: 2.5 hours

This highly practical and reflective session supports start to become behaviour detectives, not behaviour managers managers. Instead of reacting to behaviours at face value, participants learn how to investigate what behaviour is communicating beneath the surface.

Using a trauma-responsive lens, we explore how unmet needs, stress responses, and past experiences show up in school behaviour. The focus is on dealing with the root, not the fruit, and replacing punishment-based responses with informed, compassionate strategies.

Outcomes

Participants will:

  • Reframe behaviour as communication
  • Learn a clear behaviour detective framework for observation and reflection
  • Identify common trauma-driven behaviour patterns
  • Understand triggers, stress responses and survival behaviours
  • Develop practical, connection-led responses that reduce escalation

Shame And Its Impact

Duration: 2.5 hours

Shame is one of the most powerful and least understood – forces shaping behaviour, identity, and learning. This session gently but honestly explores how shame develops, how it shows up in children and adults, and how school systems can unintentionally reinforce it.

Particinants will explore the difference between shame-based and connection-based responses, and how empathy, repair, and belonging can radically change outcomes for vulnerable children.

Outcomes

Participants will:

  • Understand what shame is and how it develops
  • Recognise shame responses such as withdrawal aggression or perfectionism
  • Reflect on language, systems, and practices that may reinforce shame
  • Learn how empathy and connection act as antidotes to shame
  • Feel more confident supporting children whose behaviour is rooted in shame

Introduction To Trauma-Responsive Leadership

  • Explore the impact of leadership style on staff
  • Learn how to create psychologically safe staff cultures

Understanding The Nervous System

Duration: 2 hours

This session brings neuroscience to life in an accessible, practical way. Participants learn how the nervous system drives behaviour, learning, and emotional regulation, and why dysregulated children cannot access reasoning or consequences.

By understanding stress responses and regulation, staff are better equipped to support children (and themselves) through connection rather than control.

Outcomes

Participants will:

  • Understand the basics of the nervous system and stress responses
  • Recognise signs of dysregulation in children and adults
  • Learn why behaviour escalates under threat
  • Explore practical regulation and co-regulation strategies
  • Feel more confident supporting calm, safe learning environments
  •
